Fall Activities:
Your Farmers at Miller's have an exciting and educational calendar of events to tickle your taste-buds and your imaginations this Fall! If you are a long-time Fall visitor at Miller's Orchards, check out our Farm Philosophy page. Here you can learn more about the recent changes we've made to the Farm-scape to enhance your visit and give you more opportunities to see a real Farm and your real Farmers. Also see below for information on Apple-Picking.
The Farm is open to visitors each weekend day (plus Columbus Day) from Sept 24th through October 30th. Admission is $4/person, ages 2 and up. Children under 2 are Free.
Regular Fall 2011 Visiting Hours (Sept 24th - Oct 30th):
Sat 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sun 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
See our Calendar of Events for the Special Event Schedule for Fall 2011.
Admission includes the following:
Hayrides (Run regularly between noon and 4:30 on weekends)
Guided Farm Tours* (See below.)
Farm maze** (Follow our scavenger-hunt style questionnaire and tromp all over the farm to find the answers!)
Play Area (Includes slides and wooden climb-on structures)
Access to Farm and Animal pastures
Picnic areas (Several picnic table clusters available, some with cover)
*Guided Farm Tours: Hop on a hayride along with one of our Farmers and enjoy the stories, statistics, and good old-fashioned fun of seeing Farm life up close and personal. The Guided Farm Tour runs approximately 45 minutes and allows you a closer look at our Poultry and Pork pastures, our pesticide-free orchards, and our low-spray pumpkin fields. This is your chance to ask all your questions about farming, farm life, and even the most embarrassing moments for Your Farmers at Miller's!
Please note:
**We planned to have a full corn maze for you in 2011. This spring we planted a field of corn specifically for the 2011 maze. But with the cold, wet weather we experienced in May and the rain we've had since late August, the corn maze simply did not fill in properly. We also are unwilling to artificially "enhance" our cornfield with herbicides and pesticides, and so we were unable to counter the effects of poor weather conditions. Thus, there will be no corn maze for 2011. But we think we've got something even better! We've planned a "Farm Maze," a farm-wide questionnaire/scavenger hunt which will have you making your way throughout the Farm including along the paths we've cut through our remaining cornfield and hayfields. Come check out the Farm Maze, and we think you'll find it's more fun than just a corn maze!
Apple Picking is now closed for the 2011 season. Join us in 2012 for one of our Apple Intensive Workshops (additional fees apply).
If you are interested in Apple-Picking please join us on Sept 24th or 25th for a 1-hour Apple Intensive Workshop. (See our Calendar of Events for more details.) These offer you an opportunity to learn about our orchards, our orchard-keeping methodology, the best practices in apple-picking, and more. The Sept 24th and 25th Apple Intensive Workshops will be the only opportunities for our friends and community to pick in our orchards. See our Farm Philosophy page for more on our Apple-picking philosophy.
